MEET Elias
"I’m an industrial designer and user researcher passionate about user-centered design for human spaceflight!"
Undergraduate - Industrial Design
Georgia Institute of Technology
From: Moscow, Idaho
Background
Elias Pimentel is a fourth-year Industrial Design major at Georgia Tech and a member of the Southeast Analog team. Elias’s work centers on applying user-centered design principles to the challenges of human spaceflight, focusing on how astronauts interact with systems, tools, and environments in space. Elias research interests include zero-gravity ergonomics, technical textiles, and space food systems. Elias is currently completing a capstone project redesigning food packaging for a future International Space Station, exploring how packaging design can improve efficiency and the astronaut experience in microgravity environments. Through design training, Elias contributes a human-centered perspective to space mission development, helping bridge engineering systems with the needs of the people who will ultimately use them.
Research Experience
Elias has conducted user-centered design research through the President’s Undergraduate Research Award at Multisense Studio, where he led user research initiatives exploring design solutions and human interaction with products and environments.
